The annual Canisbay show has been running for almost 30 years, growing in popularity each year and attracting between 5000 and 10,000 people. The best of the county’s livestock is on display, as well as entertainment including bouncy castles, home baking, produce, handcraft, floral arrangements, pot plants, paintings, photography.

In previous years, the show has been held in grounds of Canisbay Hall, making use of the on-site facilities. However due to increasing numbers the show moved locations, and with organisers having to hire marquees and portable toilet facilities. The committee realised that to ensure the sustainability of the show, that in future, that it would be better to purchase suitable toilets and marquees to make it easier to continue to use this new show field.

Thanks to a grant from the Stroupster Community Fund, the Committee were able to purchase two large marquees, a smaller marquee and five portable toilets, including disabled facilities. With the Committee owning the toilets and marquees, they are no longer having to drive around the are The Committee and volunteers now benefit from a smoother running operation of the show.

The Committee also allow other groups to use their facilities at other events, including the Mey Highland and Cultural Games and the newly established Thumster Game and Countryside Fair.
