Local residents wanted to represent communities on decision making Panel

29 April 2015

As part of a planned refreshing of community representatives serving on the E.ON Camster Community Fund Panel, three vacancies have arisen for local people to serve on this locally elected panel making decisions about awards from the fund; one representative is sought from each of the Watten; Tannach & District; and Latheron, Lybster & Clyth Community Council areas.

This is an opportunity to help ensure the fund continues to be spent on projects that provide a real benefit to local communities.

Foundation Scotland was appointed by the wind farm operator, E.ON, to administer the Community Fund in 2011. The Foundation works with communities local to the wind farm site to help them decide how funds should be allocated, using its grant-making expertise to ensure positive long lasting impact.

The three new panel members will work alongside existing community representatives. In total, there are four panel members from each of the three Community Council areas serving on the decision making panel, three are community representatives (serving between 2-4 years) and one is a Community Councillor. The panel meets approximately four times a year.

You can download a panel member role profile to find out more about what’s involved in being a panel member and a nomination form from the Foundation Scotland website. Nominees can put themselves forward, must be 18 or over and on the electoral role for the local area they wish to represent. In the event of more nominations than vacancies available being received then an election will be held at the relevant local scheduled Community Council meeting in June. Everyone 18 and over and on the electoral role for the area is eligible to vote on this at that meeting.

Alternatively you can collect the nomination form applicable to your CC area locally from:

• Watten - Watten Post Office
• Tannach & District – The Smiddy Inn, Thrumster;
• Latheron, Lybster & Clyth – Lybster Post Office

Nomination forms must be completed and returned to Foundation Scotland by 2pm on Friday 22 May 2015.
