Blackford

Community Fund

Background

This charitable Fund was originally created in 2009 with a donation to Blackford Community Council by Ochil Developments, the developer of the G West development near Blackford. The fund is intended to be a lasting resource for the community of Blackford. The Fund also receives an annual payment from the EDF Energy Renewables Burnfoot Hill, Burnfoot North and Rhodders Wind Farms. This arrangement started in 2011 and will continue for the life time of the wind farm which is expected to be 25 years.

Groups and organisations working to benefit people in the area can apply to the Foundation for grants from the Fund. Although the Foundation will receive and process applications for grants, recommendations about grants and how the money is used will be made by a Community Panel made up of local residents from Blackford, together with a representative from each of the Community Councils.

The Fund is intended to be a lasting resource for the community of Blackford.

For more information on how the fund is supporting the community read the Fund report for 2016-17

Making A Difference

The Fund supports community groups and charities working in the Blackford Community Council area that are providing activities or services which promote community spirit and bring people together, enhance quality of life and promote people’s well-being and foster a vibrant, sustainable community.

Groups or organisations that have a constitution (governing document or set of rules) and are set-up on a not-for-profit basis which want to run a project or carry out activity that will benefit residents in the Blackford community council area are welcome to apply. (In exceptional circumstances non constituted groups may apply for smaller grants up to £500). Organisations do not need to be registered charities in order to apply to the Fund.

Applications for projects that benefit older residents of the community are particularly welcome.
