ScotRail Community Grants Fund

Background

ScotRail is connecting Scotland - delivering door-step to destination solutions and enhancing the connection between people and communities.

The ScotRail Foundation can provide grants of between £500 and £2,000 to constituted community groups and charities.

Aim

To empower grass roots community groups to make a positive difference in their local neighbourhoods.

Making A Difference

The application must address at least one of the following priorities:

  • Promotion of positive mental health and wellbeing

  • Targeting improvements in literacy, numeracy and health and wellbeing in primary schools

  • Improving the community’s environmental impact at a local level, encourage recycling or upcycling, or run environmental information or outreach programmes

Who can apply?

The fund welcomes applications from constituted groups working in Scotland with an income no more than £100,000 per year.  Your group’s most recent accounts, or in the case of very new groups, a projection of income and expenditure must be provided with your application.

Exclusions

The fund will not support applications from/for:

  • Organisations with an annual income of more than £100,000

  • Charitable activities beyond Scotland

  • The advancement of religious or political agendas

  • Third party giving organisations

  • Animal welfare

  • Repayment of loans or payment of debts

  • Costs which have already been incurred (i.e. retrospective funding)

  • Statutory organisations

  • Individuals

  • Flora or fauna

  • Less than 25% of the total project cost – ie you can apply for a grant of between £500 and £2,000. However, please note that the MAXIMUM total project cost we can consider is £8,000. For example, if you are applying for a £2,000 contribution to the rent of your premises which over the year comes to a total of £12,000 - we cannot consider an application from you towards this cost.

If you have received funding from any of the following sources within the last 12 months then your application will not be considered:

  • Community Rail Partnership funding

  • Station regeneration fund

  • Adopt a Station funding

  • Cultural and Arts fund
