Community to help decide Cardenden funding awards

The Nadara Westfield Fund in Cardenden is holding its first participatory grantmaking event.

For the final funding round of 2025, the Nadara Westfield Fund is hosting its first participatory grantmaking event, where the community will be invited to come along and help decide which local projects they would like to see supported.

The 'Cardenden Decides' event moves away from traditional panel decision-making, allowing local residents to vote on which projects receive funding awards of up to £2,000 each.

How the voting works
The three projects receiving the highest number of votes will be awarded their full project costs. Community votes will then help shape the Panel's decisions for remaining projects, which will be funded based on vote count, minimum impact thresholds, and available funding. Each community participant will receive three voting tokens on the day, which they can use to support their preferred projects or distribute across multiple applications. Projects will be displayed at individual kiosk with information about their proposals and community impact.

Local residents are invited to attend and learn more about the proposed projects before voting for their preferred initiatives. Entry will be verified by postcode to ensure local residents are making decisions about their community's funding priorities.

Key dates:

  • Q&A Session: 30th August 2025, 10:30am to 12:30pm at Bowhill Centre
  • Voting Event: 1st November 2025, 10:30am to 12:30pm at Bowhill Centre
  • Results announced: 6th November 2025

Applications will be available for review on the Fund page in advance of the voting day.

If you would like to find out more about this event, how participatory grantmaking works, and how to get involved, please come along to the Q&A Session at Bowhill Centre on 30th August.
