The Essentia Foundation continues its grantmaking legacy

The Essentia Foundation has marked another milestone in its commitment to strengthening communities across Scotland, unveiling a brand‑new cohort of awardees.

This latest round of funding highlights the Foundation’s continued dedication to supporting initiatives that improve the lives of young people across the country.

From youth development and mental health support to arts engagement, outdoor learning, and employment training, the 2026 awardees represent the breadth of innovation happening across Scotland’s voluntary sector.

Spotlighting the 2026 Awardees

In August, 30 organisations received awards across 10 different local authorities. Highlights from the new cohort include:

• In Shetland, Shetland Amateur Competitive Swimming Club will be delivering an inclusive and affordable swimming programme that welcomes individuals of all abilities, including those with disabilities, ensuring that all young people have access to swimming regardless of their background or skill level.
• In Glasgow, Nil By Mouth has received a grant to deliver a youth programme tackling harmful football behaviours through education, role models and real‑world experience.
• In Argyll and Bute, Woodland Wise CIC will shape a Scottish Junior Forester Award programme for 20 young people, consisting of outdoor learning and therapeutic nature-based activities.
• In North Lanarkshire, Project 42 will commence a Classroom Creative Therapy and Animation Programme, helping children and young people to improve their emotional wellbeing and relationship with school. 

Thanking the Essentia Foundation, Chairman Martin O’Neil states:

"This funding from Essentia and Foundation Scotland allows us to bring our work directly into local schools, giving young people a practical, fun outlet to express themselves. It will make a genuine difference across North Lanarkshire by boosting children's confidence, supporting their emotional wellbeing, and helping them build a more positive relationship with school."

This new round of awards also reinforces Essentia’s commitment to equitable funding, supporting groups of all sizes—from small volunteer‑led organisations to established charities expanding their reach.
