Celebrating one year of community impact

The Cockburnspath & Cove Fund is marking its first anniversary this month.

As the Coburnspath & Cove Fund marks its first anniversary this November, Foundation Scotland is delighted to announce the latest round of awards totalling £91,567 to three community projects. Since launching in November 2024, the Fund has awarded just over £212,000 across five successful funding rounds, supporting projects that strengthen communities and improve lives across the Cockburnspath & Cove Community Council area.

November 2025 Awards

Edinburgh Geological Society - £72,553
The Edinburgh Geological Society has been awarded funding to contribute to the cost of improving access to Siccar Point - the world’s most famous geological ‘unconformity’. Funding will help with the installation of interpretation boards, signposts, benches, and promotion of its significance to boost local engagement and tourism. This project will make this geologically significant site, located on the east coast of Scotland, more accessible and educational for both the local community and its visitors.

Cockburnspath Allotment Association - £16,514
Cockburnspath Allotment Association has received funding to contribute to the cost of running the allotments and community gardens, including the Community Gardener, Green Waste Scheme, community activities, and insurance, promoting sustainability, food security, and community engagement. This investment will help create a thriving hub for local residents to continue to grow their own food and connect with their neighbours.

Connect Berwickshire Youth Project - £2,500
Connect Berwickshire Youth Project has been awarded funding to support a 12-month pilot project employing a youth worker to engage rural young people, improve access to support, co-create solutions, and strengthen community understanding of youth needs through outreach, drop-ins, and collaboration. This project is funded through support from both the Co’path & Cove Fund and the Drone Hill Fund, and will help to ensure young people in rural areas have access to the support and opportunities they need.

Looking Back on a Successful First Year

The Fund's first year has been a huge success, demonstrating the power of community-led groups, volunteers and projects. Through five funding rounds, the Fund has supported projects ranging from environmental conservation and youth engagement to cultural heritage and community facilities. The £212,000 awarded has made a real difference to the community, helping to create lasting positive change.  Projects that have received funding over the past year include Cockburnspath Bowling Club, Cockburnspath Parent Council, Happy Swimmers, Wee Wildings and Cockburnspath Allotment Association.

As the Fund celebrates its first year of funding, the Panel, made up of local community residents look forward to continuing to support innovative projects that bring communities together and address local needs.
