Local groups benefit from Carcant Moorfoot Wind Farm Community Fund

Two local groups have been awarded funding from the Carcant Moorfoot Wind Farm Fund, helping to strengthen and improve the local community.

The Carcant Moorfoot Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund has announced funding awards from the 2025 open grant making round, with two local groups sharing a total of £2,171 in support.

Funding decisions are agreed by a local panel, made up of community members whose experience and familiarity with the places they live ensure the fund remains community-focused.

The Panel, which meets once a year, awarded grants to the following two groups:

Moorflix Community Cinema received £671 towards the cost of showing four films to enhance community connection and foster shared experiences in Moorfoot, promoting conversation and social connectivity.

Carrington Village Hall Association was awarded £1,500 to contribute to the cost of replacing a window in the village hall, enhancing energy efficiency and creating a more welcoming environment for the local rural community.

The panel also takes a proactive approach to supporting the local area, providing anchor organisations, including the town halls in Temple, North Middleton and Carrington, with annual awards of £1,000 each to support their core running costs. Alongside this ongoing commitment, the fund also operates an annual open grant making round to support additional community projects and initiatives.

These awards demonstrate the fund's commitment to strengthening community connections, improving local facilities, and supporting activities that bring people together across the Moorfoot Community Council area.

The fund will reopen in May 2026.
