New Community Funds supporting Keith and Strathisla communities

The new locally managed fund will offer grants of up to £1,000 to support a wide-range of community projects, facilities and initiatives.

Keith and Strathisla communities have access to a new fund designed to support local projects and strengthen community connections.

The funding is provided by Zenobē through its annual community benefit contribution from the Blackhillock Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) near Keith, Moray. It aims to enhance the quality of life for local residents, promote vibrant and sustainable communities, and encourage communities to work together across the area.

Applications to either of the local community councils are welcome for a wide range of activities, including equipment costs, running costs for local groups, operational expenses, maintenance or refurbishment of local facilities, or to kickstart larger projects.

Constituted groups can apply for grants of up to £1,000, while groups that are not formally constituted and individuals delivering community benefit can apply for up to £500, provided their activity aligns with the fund’s aims.

Foundation Scotland is providing support to the two community councils who are administering the funding to their respective areas.

Viki McCormick, Stakeholder and Community Engagement Manager at Zenobē said:

"We’re delighted to provide this fund in collaboration with Foundation Scotland and the Keith and Strathisla Community Councils. It’s designed to help local groups bring ideas to life - whether that’s improving facilities, supporting events, or creating new opportunities for residents. We look forward to seeing the positive impact these projects will have across the area.”

Funding applications will be considered at monthly meetings of the Keith and Strathisla Community Councils.

Groups and organisations working to benefit people in the Keith and Strathisla areas are encouraged to apply. Priority will be given to projects that leverage additional funding.
