Six organisations across the Inveraray and Loch Awe area received funding for a diverse range of community activities.

Now in its fourteenth year of operation, the An Suidhe Wind Farm Community Fund supports charitable activity across the community council areas of Inveraray, Furnace, and Glenorchy and Innishail (Eredine), and the area served by Dalavich Improvement Group.  The fund is provided by RWE Renewables and Green Gecco, the owners of An Suidhe Wind Farm near Loch Awe, and is administered by Foundation Scotland.

Local Voices (Argyll FM) received £4,000 to upgrade its transmission infrastructure, helping the community radio station expand its volunteer network, develop satellite studios and increase its hyperlocal programming.  The investment will help build social connection and a stronger sense of regional identity across the area.

Dalavich Improvement Group was awarded £2,475 to purchase moveable football goals, creating a safe and accessible space for informal sport that will help to promote healthier lifestyles, improve youth engagement and create stronger community connections in the village.

Inspire Inveraray received £3,130 to help with administration and bookkeeping, allowing volunteers to dedicate more time to delivering projects that benefit the wider Inveraray community.

Inveraray Golf Club was awarded £3,000 towards a new greens mower, replacing old and worn equipment.  The support will help to maintain good conditions and improve the overall playing surface standards for members and visiting golfers.

"The club is indebted to the An Suidhe Windfarm Community Fund for assisting us with a grant to buy a new greens mower. Our old mower was in a poor state of repair and it was becoming more difficult for the greenkeeper to operate. The grant has enabled the club to invest in essential equipment that would otherwise have been difficult to afford, helping to secure the long-term sustainability of the course while maintaining high standards for current and future golfers. The greens are now in the best condition they have been for a long while. We are extremely grateful for this support, which has provided lasting benefits for the club, its members, and the wider community.”

Inveraray Highland Games also received £3,000 to repair and refurbish its stage boards and trailers, ensuring equipment is safe and fit for purpose. Events such as the Highland Games play an important role in promoting community spirit across the area.

“The Inveraray Highland Games affords the community a time and space to show off its heritage. It provides a showcase for Highland culture and a boost to the local community. However, this comes with an increasing financial burden.  At a time when the financial situation is very challenging for many people, the grant from the An Suidhe Fund has provided significant support for the Games that allows it to continue and to remain affordable for local families. It has enabled us to upgrade facilities to remain safe and attractive. The application process was straightforward and we were well supported throughout the process which we very much appreciated.”

A further £3,000 was awarded to Inveraray Shinty Club to purchase compliant shinty goals for its Women's Team, enabling the club to compete in the National League. The project supports continued participation in sport and the wellbeing of women players in the local community, contributing to the fund's aim of creating vibrant, healthy, successful and sustainable communities.

Since opening in 2011, the fund has made 147 awards across the four communities it serves.  Annual donations have grown from £28,500 in the first year to £50,686 in 2025 — an increase of over 77%. The fund also reached a significant milestone in 2025, surpassing £500,000 in total grants awarded.  This support has also helped local organisation to leverage a further £1,070,274 in additional funding.  These latest awards continue a sustained investment in local people and places.

“We are really proud to see the An Suidhe Community Fund continuing to make a meaningful difference across Inveraray, Loch Awe and the surrounding communities. The range of projects supported this year demonstrates the strength, ambition and dedication of local organisations, from preserving cultural heritage and supporting community events to improving opportunities for sport, wellbeing and social connection. Reaching more than £500,000 in grants awarded is a significant milestone for the fund which is driven by local decision making. We look forward to continuing our partnership with Foundation Scotland, Green Gecco and local communities to help create lasting positive impacts for the years ahead.”

Organisations based within the Fund area are encouraged to apply, and the next closing date is the 16th September 2026.
