Application Form Questions

We offer different application forms depending on the size of the award you are applying for. Below, you’ll find the questions relevant to your grant. A PDF version can be downloaded at the end of each section. If you’re unsure which form applies to your application, please contact us at grants@foundationscotland.org.uk.

  • SMALL GRANTS UNDER £5,000

    Organisation
    • Organisation Name
    • Date Established
    • Address
    • Organisation Type (selected from available options)
    • Management committee numbers and signatory eligibility declaration.
    • Number of full and part-time staff, volunteers, and members.
    • Purpose of your organisation, and the main activities and services you provide. (Max 500 words)
    • Beneficiaries of the work of your organisation (i.e. members or service users) and on average how many people you work with per week, month, or year. (Max 500 words)
    Contact
    • Name, job title if applicable, address, contact details for the main contact (usually the person applying), and preferred method of contact.
    Financial information
    • What was your total income over the last accounting year?
    Project questions
    • Project Name
    • Tell us what you’re applying for. Make sure you include details on What, When, Where, Why, How and Who will benefit (including numbers where possible). (Max 250 words)
    • Tell us about the difference this grant will make to the people involved and the wider community? How you will you know? (Max 150 words)
    • Project/Funding Start Date and Project/Funding End Date
    • The postcode(s) which represents the geographical area you will benefit.
    • How many people will benefit from the funding?

    Some funds will have a couple more questions very specific to their funding.

    Budget
    • What is the total cost of the project?
    • How much money are you applying to us for?
    • How much has been raised so far?
    • Provide a full breakdown of the grant being applied for.
    • Provide details of the amount Secured / Applied for so far.
    Grant impact
    • Select a Foundation Scotland theme that your project will address.
    • Select a Foundation Scotland outcome that best describes the difference your project intends to make.
    • Select a primary beneficiary group and primary age group that describe your project participants.
    Bank Details
    • Please provide your organisation’s bank account name, number, and sort code, and upload a recent bank statement. We ask for this information in advance to confirm eligibility and to enable payment of any grant awarded. If you prefer, individual transactions on the statement may be redacted, but the account details must remain visible.
    Documents
    • Upload a copy of your constitution (or other governing document).
    • Upload your latest set of approved accounts, unless your organisation is less than 18 months old.
    • Upload a copy of your safeguarding policy and procedures if your organisation's core work (the work it was set up to do) or the project you are applying for involves children or vulnerable adults.
    • If your grant request is for any item(s) costing £300 - £3,000 please provide at least one quote for each of those items.
    • If your grant request is for any item(s) costing more than £3,000 please provide at least three quotes for each of those items.
    Declaration and submission
    • Check your answers carefully before submitting the form.
    • Declare that information provided in the form is correct and authorised.
    • Submit your application.

  • GRANTS OVER £5,000

    Organisation
    • Organisation Name
    • Date Established
    • Address
    • Organisation Type (selected from available options)
    • Management committee numbers and signatory eligibility declaration.
    • Number of full and part-time staff, volunteers, and members.
    • Purpose of your organisation, and the main activities and services you provide. (Max 500 words)
    • Beneficiaries of the work of your organisation (i.e. members or service users) and on average how many people you work with per week, month, or year. (Max 500 words)
    Contact
    • Name, job title if applicable, address, contact details for the main contact (usually the person applying), and preferred method of contact.
    Management Committee Details (not required for all applications)
    • Details of your whole Management Committee must be entered – this includes name, date of birth, address and experience.
    • We require the names of the three principal members, in most cases this will be the Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer but please don’t worry if you don’t have these titles – we are looking for a minimum of three committee members.
    Financial information
    • What was your total income over the last accounting year?
    • What are your current unrestricted reserves?
    • Why can these unrestricted reserves not be used for this project?
    Project questions
    • Project Name
    • Tell us what you’re applying for. Make sure you include details on What, When, Where, Why, How and Who will benefit (including numbers where possible). (Max 250 words)
    • Tell us how you plan to deliver the funded activity. We are particularly interested in:
      • Your group’s experience of running similar activities
      • How you have thought through the practical aspects of delivering this activity
      • What your fallback plan is if you don’t get all the funding you need to deliver your project
      • How will you use local connections and partners so people can find out about your activity (Max 300 words)
    • Project / Funding Start Date and Project / Funding End Date
    • In which area(s) will the project take place?
    • The postcode(s) which represents the geographical area you will benefit.
    • Tell us how you know this activity is needed. We are particularly interested in:
      • Who you have already spoken to and what they have said.
      • If there is anything similar to this in your local area?
      • If your planned activity is based on evidence, such as a local action plan, surveys, published research or policy? (Max 200 words)
    • What difference will your project make to the people involved and the wider community? (Max 200 words)
    • Tell us about the difference this grant will make to the people involved and the wider community. How you will you know? (Max 150 words)
    • What fund priority does your project address? (Only on selected applications)
    • How have you considered the climate and natural environment when planning this project? (only on selected applications) (Max 150 words)
    • Do you plan to continue the activity beyond this period of grant funding? If ‘yes’ tell us how you plan to continue the activity beyond this period of this grant, and how you will finance the project on an ongoing basis. (Max 100 words)

    Some funds will have a couple more questions very specific to their funding.
