Community Fund

Background

The North Rhins Wind Farm became operational in 2010 and it will pay community benefit for the 25 year lifetime of the wind farm.

Eleven community councils are eligible for funding from Greencoat North Rhins Fund: Cairnryan, Kirkcolm, New Luce, Old Luce, Portpatrick, Stoneykirk, Lochans, Leswalt, Stranrear and Ochtrelure & Belmont, which gets paid through Stranraer Community Council, and Castle Kennedy.

Aim

North Rhins Fund - Making A Difference

The Fund supports a broad range of community activity and development by supporting the charitable activities of community, not-for-profit groups. This includes, but is not restricted to:

  • The promotion of sustainable development
  •  The advancement of environmental protection or improvement.
  • The advancement of citizenship or community development
  • The advancement of culture or science.
  • The advancement of education.
  • The advancement of public participation in sport and general physical activity.

How to Apply

Applications for grants that will benefit one of the eligible Fund areas are decided upon by the local Community Council or Community Association that receive North Rhins funding directly each year. 

Groups that wish to apply for funding should contact their local Community Council or Community Association directly.
