Children design new festive lights for Thornton

Six new Christmas lights have been added to the festive display in the village of Thornton in Fife thanks to a grant of £6,500 from the Middle Balbeggie Wind Farm Fund.

Local children created the colourful designs for the lights in the village and feature wrapped presents, a candy cane, Santa’s hat, a Christmas stocking and the Christmas tree.  The six new lights add to four original lights also designed by children in the village and have been on display in previous years.

Tracy-Anne Bruce, Secretary Thornton Community Council, has said

‘We are very grateful for the grant from the Middle Balbeggie Wind Farm Fund, the lights have lit up the village and it looks lovely on an evening. The children were so happy to see their very own light design."

David Laird, Wind Farm Landowner, said

“We are pleased to see the Fund being used by Thornton Community Council to boost community spirit with these festive lights. The fund has also provided Education and Training grants for students and residents of the village and is proud to be contributing to the great efforts of the Community Council food bank team in these Covid affected times.”
