Community benefit – showcasing the art of the possible
'Community Benefits: A Bridge to Community Empowerment' publication
Over the last year, Rachel Searle our Head of Communities & Impact, has shared practical knowledge and experiences about community benefit from renewables with a group led by HIE as part of the National Strategy for Economic Transformation (NSET) work programme on community benefits and impact.
The group produced a publication called 'Community Benefits: A Bridge to Community Empowerment' for both communities and investors to increase their understanding of the opportunities and showcase the art of the possible and positive impacts for both when working together.
The publication is a collection of case studies to demonstrate ways in which communities have enhanced social and community benefits, arising from a variety of funding sources. It highlights the range of ways community benefits could be furthered including as part of a high-integrity and values-led approach to the development of the natural capital marketplace in Scotland.
