Finance and Operations

Liz Sams, Chief Finance and Operations Officer

Phone: 0131 524 0323

Liz joined the Foundation in 2018 as Chief Finance and Operations Officer. After completing her degree in Economics, she trained as a CA with KPMG in Edinburgh. Initially in audit she moved into the small business and start-ups unit with KPMG in Birmingham. With clients ranging from jewellers to timeshare operators she gained insights into a number of sectors and business types.

Secondments in industry gave her a taste for life outside of practice and she worked on the privatisation of one of the largest FE colleges in England before returning to Edinburgh to be with family.

Since returning to Edinburgh she has worked in a number of well-known Scottish non-profits and whilst doing so continued her passion for learning gaining an MBA, International Treasury, Prince 2 and Lean 6 Sigma qualifications.

In her spare time she is evangelical about the benefits of chess for children. When not getting beaten by 8 year olds at chess she enjoys board games, escape rooms, being walked by her wilful cockapoo and foreign travel.
