Caithness Futures Fund

Caithness Futures will launch in 2026 with its first annual donation from the Camster II Wind Farm of £180,000 which will be index-linked for the Wind Farm lifetime, expected to be 25 years.

In 2027, the fund will likely have received its first annual donation from the Golticlay Wind Farm of £314,000 which will also be index-linked for the Wind Farm lifetime, expected to be 25 years. RWE also operates a number of other funding sources in Caithness, which you can find in the useful links section below.

Following community consultation, Foundation Scotland is keen to work with other funders to grow this pooled fund with contributions to this Caithness-wide fund from other sources.

Applications

As well as standard Community grants, as part of Caithness Futures, RWE also powers Caithness Futures Education & Training Fund. £60,000 of the available balance has been ring-fenced for this purpose.

There is also a third fund which will support the costs of travelling to Inverness to give birth - the Maternity Grants programme.

Panel Members

Funding decisions are made by a local panel of community members, whose knowledge and experience of the area ensure the Fund remains firmly community-focused. The Caithness Futures Fund will also be seeking volunteers to join the fund decision making panel.

If you take a keen interest in your community and would like to help make a difference, you can email Eilidh Coll for more information about joining the panel: eilidh@foundationscotland.org.uk
