Andrew Chrystall Trust Fund Seeks Applications for Funding

08 February 2013

Grants of up to £2,000 are now available, through the Andrew Chrystall Trust Fund, to charitable organisation’s working with disadvantaged children and young people in and around Forres including Rafford.

The Andrew Chrystall Trust Fund was established in 1937 following the death of Mr Chrystall and was, until recently, administered by the Rafford Women’s Rural Institute. The original Trust was established “for purposes such as maintaining a soup kitchen for the supply of free dinners to such school children as aforesaid and providing a supply of boots, raincoats or other clothing for children of the poorer residents (of Rafford).”

In 2011, Foundation Scotland, formerly the Scottish Community Foundation, was approached by the Rafford Women’s Rural Institute to take over the administration of the Fund and to seek approval from the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) to make the original purposes of the Fund more relevant to the 21st century. OSCR gave their approval to the reorganisation of the Fund in August 2012 and the Fund is now administered by Foundation Scotland.

Applications to the Fund can be made throughout the year via Foundation Scotland’s Express Grants programme. Decisions will be made within 8 weeks of your application.
