About this fund

The Community Energy grants (formerly Winter Fuel) are provided by Barrhill Community Interest Company using funds from the Kilgallioch Community Benefit Company and ScottishPower Renewables Mark Hill wind farm.

Grants of £475 per eligible household in the Barrhill Community Council area are available until 31st March 2024.

To apply, you will need:

  • This year’s Council Tax Notice
  • A recent bank statement in the same name/address (you can blank out the financial info - we just need the sort code, account number and address).

Payment will be made direct to your bank account. Exclusions apply.

Purpose of this fund

Barrhill is entirely off mains gas grid and 77% of the houses in the area are in EPC bands E-G, so this fund aims to provide winter fuel grants to all eligible households in the Barrhill Community Council area in order to alleviate the cost pressures associated with higher-cost fuel types and harder to heat homes.

Who can apply?

The Winter Fuel grant is available to all eligible households in the Barrhill Community Council area, where the Barrhill property is the main permanent residence of the individual applying. One application can be made per eligible household.

What can’t be funded?

  • Properties which are wholly commercial
  • Second homes
  • Holiday lets

How are decisions made?

The Winter Fuel grants are awarded based on meeting the eligibility criteria. Foundation Scotland processes these grants on behalf of the Barrhill Community Interest Company.

How to apply

People who applied last year and provided an email address will have been contacted directly. If you didn't receive an email, to apply, you will need to:

  • Complete an online application form
  • Provide a copy of this year's Council Tax Notice
  • Provide a copy of a recent bank statement in the same name and address. Payments will be made directly to you by BACS.

Please note you can cross out/redact all of the personal financial information from the bank statement - we don't need to see this, we just need the sort codes and account details and address to cross-reference.
