Community Fund


The Fund is provided by Lairg Wind Farm Ltd, the operator of the Lairg Wind Farm - the three turbine site at Cnoc Na Inghinnin – and aims to benefit the community within Lairg Community Council area.

This Fund will make £22,000, index linked to the Retail Price Index, available in each year. It is administered by Foundation Scotland, with decisions on awards made by Lairg Community Council.

Making A Difference

The Lairg Community Fund will provide grants to support charitable activities that enhance quality of life for local residents, contribute to vibrant, healthy, successful and sustainable communities and promote community spirit and encourage community activity.  

Grant requests to support a wide range of costs and activities will be considered e.g equipment costs, running costs for local groups, staff or sessional workers costs, consultations, maintenance or refurbishment of community facilities etc.

Applications can be submitted at any time to Foundation Scotland, but an application must be received a month before a Community Council meeting for it to be considered at that meeting.

The dates for all the planned meetings this year are available on the Lairg Community Council website

  • To purchase staging for shelving inside a polytunnel and replacement baskets.
  • Amount awarded: £2,000

Lairg and District Community Initiatives

  • To engage a highways engineer to carry out preparatory/design works with a view to constructing a footpath/cycle path between Lairg Station and the existing village path network.
  • Amount awarded: £2,460

Lairg Gala Week

  • To purchase a new PA system.

Lairg and District Learning Centre

  • To improve the Centre's website and social media presence to enable people to access more resources and enroll in classes online.

Lairg and District Community Initiatives

  • To fund an application to the Highland Council for planning permission to construct a footpath/cycle path between Lairg Station and the existing village path system.
  • Amount awarded: £1,143

Friends of the Bradbury Centre

  • To contribute to the cost of continuing music therapy and reflexology sessions for Bradbury Centre clients.
  • Amount awarded: £500

Lairg Local History Society

  • To purchase a computer and backup drives for the group to use in digitising its archive catalogue.
  • Amount awarded: £1,508.90
