Jean Parker-Brown

Memorial Fund

Background

Jean Parker was born on March 12, 1941, to John and Kathleen Parker of Townend St, Dalry. In 1961 she married Billy Brown of Irvine and they had two children, Kathleen and William, before emigrating to Buffalo, New York in 1968.

Jean was a full time homemaker but, when her family was fully grown, she decided to continue her education and, at the age of 40, earned a diploma from the local business school. She then spent several years working in administrative positions in the banking and medical industries before retiring due to ill health.

Jean never lost her love for her native Scotland and especially her hometown Dalry. And so, when she passed in 2005, her family established The Jean Parker-Brown Memorial Fund in honour of her memory.

Aim

The Fund is primarily designed to provide financial support to mature women from Ayrshire, and in particular from the Dalry area, who wish to further their education, just as she did.
