NorthConnect Legacy Fund

Background

The NorthConnect Legacy Fund is provided by NorthConnect, a joint venture company, set up to develop, build, own and operate an electrical interconnector between Scotland and Norway.  For more information on NorthConnect see www.northconnect.no

The Fund is a charitable fund to support community groups and individuals that benefit residents living within a 10 mile radius of the planned interconnector (“the Area of Benefit”).  A map showing the Area of Benefit is here.

The initial donation to the NorthConnect Legacy Fund in 2017 was £10,000. Due to the level of interest and the number of worthwhile projects seeking funding, the Fund has been increased for 2018 to £20,000.

Groups, organisations and individuals working to benefit people in the Area of Benefit may apply to the Fund.  Your group can either have a constitution (a governing document or set of rules) or be an informal group with no constitution, and must be set up on a not-for-profit basis.  It does not need to be a registered charity to apply. Inaddition, individuals, if they plan to carry out work for the benefit of the community, are also eligible to apply. Foundation Scotland receives and processes grant applications but decisions are made by a separate decision-making Panel.

For more information about the Fund, and what projects the Fund will support and not support, please read the Fund Factsheet.
